Open Studio

Spend the day in our light-filled Silver Lake studio—an open, creative space made for exploring your ideas in clay. Open Studio is a self-guided session, perfect for those with some clay experience or anyone curious to experiment on their own. Come solo, bring a friend, or make it a group day—you’ll have a full studio at your fingertips.

Upon arrival, you’ll receive a quick tour of the space and equipment, then the rest of the day is yours to shape, roll, and build. This is not an instructional class, but our team will be on site to help with logistics.

Includes:
– Access to the studio from 10am–5pm
– Use of hand-building tables, slab roller, tools & molds
– Up to 12 lbs of firing (additional work may be fired at $1 per lb)
– Bisque & glaze firing by our team (ready for pickup in ~4 weeks)

Add-Ons (available for purchase):
– Clay: $12 (12 lbs)
– Underglaze Access: $15 (all studio colors)

Policies:
– No guided instruction, this is fully self-guided time
– No outside work allowed
– You may bring your own tools or clay (cone 5/6 only)
– Appointment needed, no walk-ins

FAQs

Open Studio is self-guided studio time. You’ll have access to our tools, slab roller, and molds, with the freedom to create at your own pace. This is not a class—no demos or teaching are provided.
It’s best for those with some prior clay experience or anyone who feels comfortable experimenting on their own.

You may cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your booked slot. Within 24 hours, bookings are final and non-refundable.
Yes! We welcome groups of up to 4 people during Open Studio. If you’re looking to book for more than 4, please reach out to us about private rentals or workshops.
Yes—we encourage it! Make a day of it in Virgil Village. Enjoy coffee at our neighbors Good Friend, have lunch at Sqirl, and end the day with cider at Alma’s before heading back to the studio to finish your work.
As many as you’d like during your session. Your booking includes firing for up to 12 lbs of clay. Additional work can be fired at $1 per lb.
All purchased clay is yours to keep. If you don’t use it all during your session, you’re welcome to take it home.
At this time, we only offer hand-building equipment (no throwing wheels).
Staff are available to answer questions about tools, firing, and logistics. However, we cannot provide instruction, demos, or hands-on guidance during Open Studio.
Our team will bisque + glaze your pieces in one of our studio glazes. Finished work is typically ready for pickup in 3–4 weeks. Please collect within 30 days of notification.
You’re welcome anytime between 10am–5pm, but we recommend giving yourself at least 3 hours to make the most of your session.
