Over four weeks, you’ll learn the fundamentals of hand building in a hands-on, guided setting. Each class builds on the next, giving you both structure and freedom to explore your own ideas.

I’ll be there to walk you through techniques, answer questions, and help you bring your vision to life whether it’s a mug, a vase, or something sculptural. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with finished pieces made entirely by you that are functional, personal, and made to live with.

Week 2: Slab rolling + working with molds

This four-week intermediate course is designed for students who already understand the basics of hand building and are ready to refine their work. Each week focuses on a category of objects, encouraging you to build with intention and create pieces that feel part of a collection.

We’ll dive deeper into proportion, scale, wall thicknesses, weight distribution, surface detail, and refinement. By the end of the session, you’ll have a small cohesive body of work that feels thoughtful, elevated, and distinctly your own.

May Theme: Objects for the Home

Week 1: Elevated Serveware
Footed platters, sculpted trays, and large slab forms. Focus on scale, clean edges, and structural integrity.

Week 2: Lidded Forms
Butter dishes, jewelry boxes, spice jars. Learn lid fitting, shrinkage considerations, and proportion.

Week 3: Sculptural Utility
Wall sconces with shelves or candle holders. Explore balance, thickness control, and visual weight.

Week 4: Advanced Surface + Glaze
Layered underglaze, resist techniques, and intentional glaze pairing.

This course is best suited for students who have completed a beginner session or have prior hand building experience.

– Open studio / practice hours Tue–Sun, 10 AM–10 PM
