Sundays 10AM - 12PM
March 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
Studio COSA
900 N. Virgil Ave. Los Angeles CA 90029
This four-week intermediate course is designed for students who already understand the basics of hand building and are ready to refine their work.
Think of this as four themed workshops woven into one cohesive experience.
Each week focuses on a category of objects, encouraging you to build with intention and create pieces that feel part of a collection. We’ll dive deeper into proportion, scale, wall thicknesses, weight distribution, surface detail, and refinement.
This course is less about “can I make this?” and more about “how do I make this beautifully?”
By the end of the session, you’ll have a small cohesive body of work that feels thoughtful, elevated, and distinctly your own.
March Theme: Objects for the Home
Week 1: Elevated Serveware
Footed platters, sculpted trays, and large slab forms. Focus on scale, clean edges, and structural integrity.
Week 2: Lidded Forms
Butter dishes, jewelry boxes, spice jars. Learn lid fitting, shrinkage considerations, and proportion.
Week 3: Sculptural Utility
Wall sconces, asymmetrical vases, or statement vessels. Explore balance, thickness control, and visual weight.
Week 4: Advanced Surface + Glaze
Layered underglaze, resist techniques, intentional glaze pairing. Refinement and finishing details.
This course is best suited for students who have completed a beginner session or have prior hand building experience.
